Deleting your Handro account and data
Handro · Version 1.5 · Effective date: October 1, 2026
Changelog — v1.5: when an account is deleted, we now keep one coded sign-up check for 2 years, so a returning owner isn't credited as a new business under our Referral Program Terms. It can't restore anything. Nothing else has changed.
Previous changelog — v1.4: in-app deletion now permanently deletes the Organization and its Handro data immediately after the owner confirms. The 72-hour recovery window and cancellation email no longer apply. A new Organization may be created after deletion; deleted data cannot be restored or transferred.
Previous changelog — v1.3: clarified that Apple subscription billing requires separate cancellation, and identified retained purchase-verification records.
Previous changelog — v1.2: added that a Google Calendar connection and any calendar subscription (.ics) link are removed on account deletion, but events already placed on a third-party calendar are not — see "What's kept" below.
You can permanently delete your Handro account — your organization and everything in it — at any time. There are two ways to do it, whether or not you're able to sign in.
In the app (fastest)
Open Handro and go to Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. You'll be asked to download a copy of your data, then to type your organization's name to confirm.
After you confirm, we immediately and permanently delete your Organization and its Handro data from our live systems. Your whole team is signed out and loses access right away. There is no recovery window and no cancellation email. This cannot be undone. You can create a new Handro Organization after deletion, but it starts empty: we cannot restore or transfer the deleted data into it.
If Apple bills your Handro subscription
Deleting Handro does not cancel your App Store subscription. Before continuing, open Plan & Billing → Manage App Store subscription or Apple's subscription settings and cancel it to avoid future renewals. Apple shows when your paid access ends. For an App Store refund, use Apple's refund request service.
The deletion flow warns you and asks you to acknowledge that cancellation is separate. You may proceed after acknowledging; you do not have to wait for the paid period to end. Restore Purchases cannot rebuild the deleted Organization or transfer that purchase to a new Handro Organization.
Can't sign in? Request deletion by email
Email support@gethandro.com from the email address on your Handro account and ask us to delete it. We'll verify you're the account owner, then delete your account and its data — the same scope listed under "What gets deleted" below. We aim to complete verified requests within 30 days; if you can still sign in, the in-app path above is faster and lets you export your data first.
Download your data first
Before you delete, get a copy of everything — your customers, jobs, estimates, price book, memberships, and payment records — in a machine-readable format (JSON) you can keep or move elsewhere. It's free, available any time from Settings → Danger zone, and it's the first step of the in-app delete flow itself.
Canadian tax rules generally require a business to keep its invoice and payment records for about six years. Once your account is deleted, we can't get your data back for you, so export first if you want to keep it.
What gets deleted
After you confirm in-app deletion — or we finish processing a verified emailed request — this is gone for good:
- Your organization, its settings, branding, and price book
- Every customer, job, estimate, and membership
- Job photos and attachments
- Handro's copy of your payment records — amounts, dates, and paid/unpaid status
- Your Stripe or Square connection (the link between your Handro account and your payment account) and your QuickBooks Online connection and sync history, if you set either up — this does not touch the Stripe, Square, or QuickBooks account itself (see below), only Handro's record of being connected to it
- Your Google Calendar connection and any calendar subscription (.ics) link — this does not remove events already placed on Google Calendar, or anything already downloaded by a calendar app that subscribed to your feed (see below)
- Your whole team's accounts and access — every owner, admin, and staff member is removed
- Booking and estimate links you've shared stop working
- Your Stripe-billed Handro subscription, cancelled as part of the same process. Apple subscriptions need the separate cancellation step described above.
What's kept, or isn't affected
-
Apple purchase-verification records. We detach the purchase from your deleted organization but retain pseudonymous transaction/product identifiers, the random account token, status/timestamps and notification records to prevent the same purchase from being claimed by another organization and handle billing disputes. These records cannot rebuild your organization or its customer/job data. Apple keeps its own billing records under its terms and privacy policy.
-
A sign-up check, for 2 years. We keep a code made from the owner's email address with a secret key (a keyed hash). We can't read the address from it. It only tells us if the same address signs up again, so a returning business isn't credited as new under our Referral Program Terms. Only the deletion date is stored with it, and it's deleted 2 years after your account is.
-
Calendar events already created. If you used Calendar sync, events already pushed to Google Calendar, or already fetched by a subscribed calendar app, are not automatically deleted when you delete your Handro account — delete them yourself, in that calendar, if you need them gone. We have no ability to reach into a third-party calendar account.
-
Your Stripe or Square account is untouched. Payments run through your own Stripe or Square account, not ours. Deleting Handro doesn't close, disable, or change it — your payment and payout history stays in your Stripe Dashboard or Square account, and that provider keeps its own transaction records for as long as its rules and the law require. We can delete Handro's copy of your payment records; we can't delete anything held by Stripe or Square. The same is true of your QuickBooks Online account, if you connected one — we only remove Handro's connection to it, never your books.
-
We keep what the law requires — for example, security-incident records, for a limited time — and de-identified statistics that can't be traced back to you or your customers. Nothing we keep can rebuild your account.
-
Backups. Deleted data may persist briefly in routine encrypted backups and ages out on our normal backup schedule before it's overwritten.
