Handro Solo includes them for US$14.99 a month, and Team is US$49 a month flat for up to 10 people. Every competitor price below comes from that vendor's own pricing page, with the date we checked it.

Each price is the lowest month-to-month tier with QuickBooks sync and automatic reminders, plus that vendor's own per-user charge. ServiceM8 and Joist aren't in this table because neither prices by crew size. ServiceM8 prices by jobs completed per month, and it includes QuickBooks, Xero and MYOB sync and reminders on every plan, even its free one. Joist doesn't publish how many people can use one plan; its QuickBooks sync starts at Elite, US$32/mo. List prices, month-to-month, checked Sep 30, 2026. Taxes and card-processing fees are excluded everywhere.

Handro (ours)

Our pick for solo operators and crews up to 10. We make it, so weigh that.

Built for
Owner of a 1-10 person home-service business in Canada or the US, solo operators first.
Starting price
Solo US$14.99/mo, or US$11.92/mo paid yearly (US$142.99); Team US$49/mo flat, or US$39.17/mo paid yearly (US$469.99), up to 10 people. Plans and pricing, checked October 7, 2026.
Users included
1 (Solo) or up to 10 for one flat price (Team); every feature is on both
Trial or free plan
Free Starter plan (1 person, 10 jobs a month), no card required
Where it's strong
Seats are the only difference between Solo and Team — every feature ships on both plans. That includes Good/Better/Best estimates with e-signature, and QuickBooks Online, Xero or Wave sync. Card payments run through your own Stripe or Square account, on iOS, Android and web, at zero Handro markup (your processor's fees still apply). Email reminders and review requests, plus on-my-way and appointment texts once your shop's number is registered, are on both plans. So are deposits and discounts on estimates, follow-up emails on unanswered quotes, overdue-invoice reminders, tips, and a saved card on file with autopay for recurring visits and memberships.
Watch out for
Handro is new, with no public reviews yet.

Pick Handro if you run a 1-10 person shop and want every feature live on day one, at one flat price.

Jobber

Built for
A solo or small shop that wants self-serve online booking now, and will upgrade for QuickBooks or reminders.
Starting price
US$49/mo (Core), pay-monthly, no commitment. Jobber's pricing page, checked September 30, 2026.
Users included
1 user; extra users US$29/mo each, on every tier
Trial or free plan
14-day trial, no free plan
Where it's strong
Self-serve online booking ships on Core, the entry tier. A booking-driven solo shop gets it without upgrading.
Watch out for
QuickBooks or Xero sync and automated client reminders need Connect, US$139/mo, not Core's US$49 entry tier. On Capterra (4.6/5, 1,487 reviews, checked 2026-09-30), value for money is Jobber's lowest-scoring category.

Pick Jobber if you want an established brand with thousands of reviews and will pay its higher plans.

Housecall Pro

Built for
A solo shop that wants booking and payments live today, and can upgrade later for GPS or QuickBooks.
Starting price
US$79/mo monthly, or US$59/mo annually (Basic). Housecall Pro's pricing page, checked September 30, 2026.
Users included
1 user; per-seat pricing for Basic and Essentials isn't published
Trial or free plan
14-day trial, no card required, no free plan
Where it's strong
Basic, the entry tier, already includes self-serve online booking and payments — a real starting point for a one-person shop.
Watch out for
QuickBooks Online sync and employee GPS need Essentials, US$189 monthly or US$149 annual, not Basic. On Capterra (4.7/5, 2,748 reviews, checked 2026-09-30), one reviewer said a promised US$100 gift card never arrived.

Pick Housecall Pro if you want booking and payments live today, and can add GPS or route optimization later.

ServiceTitan

Built for
Large, multi-truck operations with call-center dispatch and fleet GPS across many trucks.
Starting price
Not published. ServiceTitan's pricing page, checked September 30, 2026.
Users included
Not published
Trial or free plan
No trial; price quoted after a sales call
Where it's strong
For a shop that has outgrown Jobber or Housecall Pro, reviewers call it the only system deep enough to scale into.
Watch out for
ServiceTitan doesn't publish a price; every tier ends in “Request Pricing.” On Capterra (4.3/5, 341 reviews, checked 2026-09-30), one appliance-repair owner said the platform is designed for large commercial operations, not a small startup. Value for money is ServiceTitan's lowest Capterra sub-score, 3.8.

Pick ServiceTitan if you run a larger, multi-truck operation, not a 1-10 person shop.

ServiceM8

Built for
Solo operators and small teams who want a free starting plan.
Starting price
Free (US$0/mo); Starter US$29/mo. ServiceM8's pricing page, checked September 30, 2026.
Users included
1 user (Free); unlimited users on every paid tier
Trial or free plan
Permanent free plan, plus a 14-day trial, no card required
Where it's strong
A free permanent plan, and its paid tiers start at US$29/mo with unlimited users. QuickBooks, Xero and MYOB sync and automated email and text reminders are included on every plan, including Free, which Handro's free Starter plan leaves out.
Watch out for
Paid tiers cap jobs per month, not users — a busy 2-person crew can land on the same tier as a larger one. On Capterra (4.5/5, 311 reviews, checked 2026-09-30), Android's lighter app and the job-count caps are named complaints.

Pick ServiceM8 if you do very few jobs and want to start at US$0.

Joist

Built for
A solo contractor who mainly needs fast estimates and invoices, not job scheduling.
Starting price
US$12/mo monthly (Basics), or US$8.34/mo paid annually. Joist's pricing page, checked September 30, 2026.
Users included
1 user; up to 5 documents a month on Basics
Trial or free plan
14-day trial, full Run-tier access, no card required
Where it's strong
The simplest, lowest-priced tool here for a one-person contractor whose main need is a clean estimate-to-invoice flow.
Watch out for
Job scheduling only exists on Run, US$100/mo — an eight-times jump from the US$12 Basics tier. On Capterra (4.2/5, 90 reviews, checked 2026-09-30), reviewers call it weak on project management and scheduling jobs.

Pick Joist if you only need estimates and invoices, not a scheduling tool.

Tradify

Built for
Trade-specific job management for electricians, plumbers, gas engineers and HVAC techs.
Starting price
US$47/user/month (Lite). Tradify's pricing page, checked September 30, 2026.
Users included
Priced per user from the first seat; a 2nd user is another US$47/mo
Trial or free plan
14-day trial, no free plan
Where it's strong
Tradify has the highest Capterra satisfaction score in this set, 4.7/5 from 152 reviews, checked 2026-09-30. QuickBooks and Xero sync ship on every tier, including Lite.
Watch out for
Pricing is per-user from the first seat, with no flat solo discount. Appointment and invoice reminders need Pro (US$51/user), not Lite (US$47/user). At that price, Lite already costs close to Jobber Core (US$49).

Pick Tradify if you want trade-specific software with strong reviews, priced per user like Jobber.

Kickserv

Built for
Small teams — the entry tier already includes 5 seats, with no true 1-person plan.
Starting price
US$60/mo monthly (Start), or US$48/mo annually. Kickserv's pricing page, checked September 30, 2026.
Users included
5 users included; extra-user pricing isn't published
Trial or free plan
30-day trial, no stated card requirement
Where it's strong
Start, the entry tier, already includes QuickBooks Online sync and automated email and text reminders. The 30-day trial is the longest of any tool here. Capterra reviewers (4.4/5, 387 reviews, checked 2026-09-30) call quoting, scheduling and invoicing easy to learn.
Watch out for
GPS and dispatch mapping need Run, US$119/mo, double Start's price. A true solo operator still pays US$60/mo for 5 seats, 4 of them unused. On Capterra (4.4/5, 387 reviews, checked 2026-09-30), reviewers call the reporting function unintuitive.

Pick Kickserv if you run a small team already, not a solo shop, and want a long trial.

Workiz

Built for
Phone-heavy, call-volume trades like appliance repair, locksmiths and garage doors.
Starting price
Not published. Workiz's pricing page, checked September 30, 2026.
Users included
Not published
Trial or free plan
7-day trial (per Workiz's FAQ); price quoted after a demo
Where it's strong
Capterra reviewers (4.4/5, 218 reviews, checked 2026-09-30) say its call-handling and automation stack saves real time for phone-heavy trades.
Watch out for
Workiz used to publish tiered prices; both of its pricing pages now show only “Request pricing.” There's no way to compare Workiz to any other tool here without a sales call. On the same Capterra page, reviewers note the mobile app doesn't rotate sideways and can't block time off from the schedule.

Pick Workiz if you're a phone-heavy trade willing to sit through a demo for a price.

Price the plan you'll actually need, not the entry tier

The entry-tier price rarely includes QuickBooks sync or automated reminders — check the cost table above for what each tool actually charges.

Count your crew size too. Per-seat pricing, like Tradify's or Jobber's extra-user fee, adds up fast once you hire.

List the three things you can't work without

Every tool on this page does jobs, quotes and invoices. The differences show up in extras: self-serve booking, route optimization, GPS, QuickBooks sync or a free plan.

Name your three must-haves, then check which tier of which tool actually includes them — not just the tool's homepage.

Check the trial terms and the contract

Trial length ranges from 7 days (Workiz) to 30 (Kickserv); most land at 14. Some need a card upfront, some don't.

Ask every vendor for the total monthly cost with no commitment, in writing. Some discounts only apply with a one-year commitment or a prepaid annual plan.

If you're on Android, check the app matches iOS

ServiceM8's Android app, “ServiceM8 Lite,” only covers core job and technician functions — the management features stay on iOS and the web.

Ask directly whether a vendor's Android app matches its iPhone app before you commit.

Check whether you can export your own data

Ask whether you can export your full customer list and job history, for free, any time — not only when you're cancelling.

Whoever you pick, your records should leave with you if you switch tools later.
