Count a half bath as 1 if it takes you as long as a full one.

The whole home, from the listing or the customer. Bedrooms and bathrooms are counted above; this covers the kitchen, living areas, halls and floors.

Your time for the kitchen, living areas, halls and floors, per 1,000 sq ft of the whole home, in normal condition. Time one home you know the size of.

How the home looks today compared with one you clean regularly. The percentages are starting points: if your times already allow for it, keep Normal.

A first clean usually covers detail the recurring visits keep up with: baseboards, build-up in the bathrooms and kitchen.

The rate you charge per cleaner-hour, which already covers pay, overhead and profit. Not sure? Work it out with the labor rate calculator.

This is a starting point, not a quote.

You just priced a clean from the rooms and your own pace. In Handro you set a recurring clean once and each visit is created for you. With autopay on, the card the client saved is charged when each visit is marked complete, and payment reminders go out by email once you turn them on. Team is US$49 a month flat for up to 10 people, Solo is US$14.99 a month for one person, and Starter is free for one person and 10 jobs a month.

How to use it

  1. Put in the bedrooms, bathrooms and square feet.
  2. Add your time for each, then pick the home's condition and the type of visit.
  3. Add the rate you charge and your supplies, and read the price. Switch the visit type to price the first clean and the recurring one.

How this is worked out

Cleaning time is each bedroom and bathroom at your time for it, plus the home's square feet at your time per 1,000 sq ft. That's multiplied by the condition and the type of visit, then by your hourly rate, and supplies with their markup are added.

With the example numbers: 3 bedrooms at 20 minutes is 60, 2 bathrooms at 30 is 60, and 1,800 sq ft at 35 minutes per 1,000 is 63, so 183 minutes, or 3.05 hours. At $50 an hour that's $152.50. Add $10 of supplies with a 20% markup, $12, and a recurring clean is $164.50. As a first clean (about 50% more time, 4.58 hours) it's $240.75.

Drive time isn't counted here; your hourly rate should cover it.

Hours are cleaner-hours

Two cleaners on a 3-hour home are on site for about an hour and a half, and the price is the same, because you pay for both of them. Price on total cleaner-hours and you can send one person or two without re-quoting.

Quote the first clean on its own

A home that hasn't had a regular cleaner takes longer the first time. Quote the first visit at its own price and the recurring visits after it at theirs, and say so on the quote, so the customer knows the first price isn't the price every time.

The condition and first-clean percentages are starting points, not measured rates. Time a few first cleans of your own and pick the option closest to what they really take.
